I know in one way or another we have all been called to rest in Christ (which we should do daily). My husband and I were talking the other week about God and His protection and Will for our lives. It made me think of what a pastor described God as being an umbrella. When we accept Christ we walk under His umbrella that was already opened for us to be protected from the rain (the trials, etc of life). Well in order to stay under that umbrella we must stay in His Will...constantly seek God's will for our lives. We should daily renew our minds with God's Word (Scripture) so that we will have more of an understanding of Christ. He also speaks to us through Scripture.
Then I thought about this example. What if someone that was a Christian (and under God's umbrella/covering/protection) took a job without first seeking God's will or moved to another city without seeking God (many more situations can be given). Wouldn't that be like they were walking from under his umbrella/protection? Is that why some people are miserable in their jobs? Could it also be the reason why some negative things may happen to people? Because they willingly walked from under God's protection. Visualize it for a moment... God is still standing there holding an umbrella...and we have a choice to stay under his protection or not.
When I visualized it as such, it made me want to seek His will the more for every decision I make. I don't want to ever be without God's protection because I chose to do something He didn't have me to do, or go some place He did not have me at. I want my life and everything I choose for myself and my family to be pleasing to Him. I encourage each of you reading this to seek God's will for your life.
You may be saying/questioning...How do I know what God's will is for me. Consider this verse from Romans 12:1-2 "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will" (NIV).
Prayer: Lord, I thank you for your protection and for your perfect will for my life. Please guide me in all my endeavors and give me the strength I will need. I ask that your will be done. I will seek your kingdom first, knowing and believing that everything else will fall into place. In Jesus' name.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
It is so true that we need to remain under the umbrella of God. So many times people want their needs met or desires filled, without seeking God's Will. They walk from under God's umbrella (protection) because they think that they should accept this job offer for more money or move to a seemingly better location and the whole time God is saying No I do not want you to do this or that but do something else. If we do not listen we run the risk of walking from under God's divine protection. Later to find out that there is a storm raging and the safe place is under the umbrella. Thank you for you encouraging words and continue to Blog :)
